As I get ready to publish, “What to Watch in 2026?” on Tuesday – one item came up early and figured it was worth a Sunday night post – the impact of Mike Lindell on the GOP race after Trump’s endorsement.

Trump Says: “Mike Lindell deserves to be Governor”

On Friday, President Donald Trump did something that Minnesota Republicans have been fearing and DFLers were hoping for - he said My Pillow’s Mike Lindell “deserves to be Governor”. Was it an endorsement? Maybe not, but it creates an issue for the Republican field.

That is going to frustrate the others in the race, especially Speaker Lisa Demuth and straw poll winner Kendall Qualls. It will also frustrate the Minnesota GOP delegation that is helping and building outside of the party, a plan to be competitive in the Governor’s race after the primary.
