SPRING SUNDAY
Sixteen years ago today, I decided to launch the morning take. Little did I know…what it would mean. One thing that’s changed enormously is Minnesota’s media - a premium post below.
Wild tie the series. Wolves win but two major injuries will haunt their chances.
Via the Timberwolves official injury report on Dante DiVincenzo, “revealed a ruptured right Achilles tendon, and he will undergo surgery this afternoon in New York by Dr. Martin O’Malley of the Hospital for Special Surgery, in collaboration with Timberwolves. DiVincenzo is out indefinitely, and further updates of his progress will be provided when available.”
On Sunday Take, Sen. Ann Rest on the tax bill dynamics and Rep. Mary Franson on the bonding bill dynamics. LISTEN: https://fluence-media.co/48kKSq3
Last night at the White House Correspondent’s dinner, someone who apparently rushed the stage was shot, dinner was evacuated – including President Donald Trump. Mayor Jacob Frey was at the dinner as a guest of MS Now, so was DNC Chair Ken Martin and his wife Jennifer. KARE 11’s AJ Lagoe was at the dinner too, with photographer Gary Knox to receive a reward for covering state government. STRIB: https://fluence-media.co/4ePe9gm
A few pre-Monday updates on Minnesota’s political scene.
Three weeks left in the legislative session, here’s the full conversation from the legislative leaders at last week’s re-launch of the Twin West Legislative Breakfast presented by Fluence Advisory. LISTEN: https://fluence-media.co/4eJgGbW
DFLers endorsed Erik Osterberg in CD7 and Republicans endorsed Rep. Michelle Fischbach. DFLers endorsed Doug Chapin in CD 6 to challenge Rep. Tom Emmer.
King Charles and Camilla will visit DC this week, and after his trip to LA Gov. Walz hasn’t had anything on his schedule, is he prepping for his final State of the State speech? What do you want to hear from him? bloisolson@gmail.com
April showers continue this week…May flowers better follow.

16 YEARS OF MEDIA SHIFT
It was on this Sunday sixteen years ago, in my own mind – without telling anyone I decided I would send the first email that now drives how I start every weekday. So today, we try something new – after all, if you don’t try it – you’ll never know.
Today is a “hybrid” version, part weekend update, part premium content. It’s meant to be a quick read with the potential for a deeper dive into a topic that is part of my daily life – the media.
Since hybrid is part of so much of our lives these days – Fluence between Fluence Media and Fluence Advisory is a hybrid media centric operation. Therefore we encounter media daily in most of Minnesota’s outlets. It’s also a question that is raised socially very frequently – “What’s up with the media?”
The more important journalism that is done, there seem to be more fringy and cringy stories and conspiracies that come from coverage or lack of – that polute the credibility of the credible and the brains of those that are susceptible.
So here’s today’s deep dive, a look at three local outlets - MPR, the Star Tribune and Twin Cities Business – two with Minnesota’s largest newsrooms, and another that might be losing its way.
