Medicaid Supports Health Care for All of Us. It keeps Minnesota’s hospitals strong and ensures communities across the state have access to care. Policymakers must protect Medicaid so every Minnesotan—regardless of income or health status—can get the care they need, when they need it. MEDICAID: via MPR News, VERBATIM: “In Minnesota, about a quarter of the population is on Medicaid. While local and state health care leaders are voicing concerns, solutions at the state level are few and far between. They might have to be figured out in a special session later this year…Final details might not be known until later this spring, perhaps after the Legislature sets a budget and adjourns for the year. But some state officials have started doing the math, speculating that the state could lose out on $1.6 billion depending how the cuts get spread among the states. John Connolly, Minnesota’s Medicaid director, said that would trickle down to force difficult choices at the state level.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/43OpRTb

ECONOMY: via Star Tribune, VERBATIM: “The Federal Reserve is in a bind. President Donald Trump has been pressuring the central bank to lower interest rates, even as tariffs he’s imposing on U.S. trading partners threaten to raise inflation. … Unlike in the 2008 and 2020 recessions, there’s nothing the Fed can do. KASHKARI: ‘There simply are no economic tools that the Fed has that can undo the economic impact of a tariff or trade war because it pushes up inflation, and it pushes down economic activity,’ said Neel Kashkari, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. … Interest rates are one of the few levers the Fed can pull to either kick-start the economy or slow it down, [but] that strategy won’t work this time, Kashkari said in an interview Monday.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/3EuYqmX

PUSH BACK AGAINST TAX BREAKS FOR BIG TECH DATA CENTERS: Our tax money should be going to essential services for Minnesotans, like education, health care, and infrastructure — not subsidies for billionaire owned data centers.
