The First Congressional District has historically been one of Minnesota’s most independent minded. Republicans have held it since 2018 when Gov. Tim Walz ran for Governor.

The 2022 new alignment and Rep. Brad Finstad’s incumbency show that the district is a little more Republican without Rice County and Northfield.
