TAX CUTS: Via The Wall Street Journal, VERBATIM: “Some Democrats have found an answer to President Trump’s popular tax cuts for tipped workers, overtime pay and senior citizens: expand them . . . Democrats are seeking their tax-policy footing after Trump turned versions of his ‘no tax on—’ campaign slogans into the ‘one big, beautiful bill’ that is likely to deliver many Americans bigger refunds early next year.” QUOTE: “I disagree with all the policies, but he does tend to tap in to a feeling among voters,” said Rep. Angie Craig (D., Minn.). “Sometimes, the top-line feelings are real even if his solutions are going to make things worse.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/4nwoeRd
LATEST: Via CBS News, VERBATIM: “The House-passed measure to fund the government until Nov. 21 again fell short of 60 votes in the Senate for a third time. Senate Republicans plan to hold additional votes in the coming days to put pressure on Democrats to vote for the bill, which would almost immediately end the shutdown and reopen the government.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/46zD2Zi

East Metro residents and all Minnesotans have my word that I will do everything within my power to work across the aisle to end this shutdown as soon as possible.” TWEET: https://fluence-media.co/4gWiJsA

UPTOWN: Via MplsStPaul, VERBATIM: “Sure, there are cursed restaurant spaces around town—but what about those that carry the opposite kind of magic, a synergy that flows from restaurant to restaurant, reanimating the same space with a common thread of light, color, and good food? Take the sun-washed brick building at the corner of 26th Street and Lyndale Avenue in Uptown: Long home to Common Roots, one of the earliest metro restaurants to truly commit to local sourcing and eating, it later morphed into Hi Flora, a plant-based restaurant and temperance bar serving Lion’s Mane mushroom steaks and enchanting, potion-like zero-proof cocktails.
