BOELTER: Via KMSP-TV, VERBATIM: “Jenny Boelter, the wife of Vance Boelter, released a statement Thursday regarding her husband's alleged involvement in the shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses . . . ‘We are absolutely shocked, heartbroken and completely blindsided. This violence does not at all align with our beliefs as a family. It is a betrayal of everything we hold true as tenets of our Christian faith. We are appalled and horrified by what occurred and our hearts are incredibly heavy for the victims of this unfathomable tragedy.’ Jenny Boelter says they have been fully cooperating with law enforcement. She also clarifies in the statement that on the morning of June 14, she drove to meet authorities and was not pulled over, as officials have previously reported.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/4ln5imb
JOBS: Via Star Tribune, VERBATIM: “The job market for teenagers is becoming increasingly challenging. The teen unemployment rate in Minnesota has ticked up as labor analysts say employers look for those with experience even for entry-level jobs. Minnesota’s teen unemployment rate rose to 7.1% in April, up from 5.5% a year earlier, according to Oriane Casale, assistant director of the Labor Market Information Office at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. At the same time, the state’s overall unemployment rate remained relatively steady.” CASALE: “I think that’s an indication that employers are slightly shifting away from teens and looking more towards experienced workers.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/3TGo9wL
CANNABIS: Via Axios, VERBATIM: “The possibility of buying a bag of weed or high-dose cannabis gummies from a corner store or shopping center is drawing near, but don't expect the shelves to be full right away. Why it matters: While the rollout of recreational marijuana in Minnesota is months behind schedule, the first wave of non-tribal businesses that intend to grow, manufacture and sell cannabis are racing to sign leases and gain city approvals . . . The shops that do get up and running soon will also face a supply issue, industry experts say.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/4nzNVRg
VETERANS: Via news release from Rep. Tom Emmer, VERBATIM: “Congressman Tom Emmer’s provision to support military families struggling to obtain their deceased veterans death certificates was included in the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies (MilConVA) Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2026, which passed the House of Representatives yesterday on a 218-206 vote. Congressman Emmer’s report language requires the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to prepare a report offering solutions to ensure military families receive their deceased veteran’s death certificate in a timely manner.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/3GmViKO

HORTMAN: Via Minnesota Reformer, VERBATIM: “The Reformer interviewed nearly two dozen legislators of both parties, Capitol staff, political operatives, and the many Hortman alums who have gone on to successful careers in business, law and public service thanks to her mentoring. The portrait that emerges is of an unusual politician: She merely tolerated the spotlight, happily shared credit and accepted blame, eschewed higher office, and by all accounts was motivated chiefly by an interest in public policy, its details and how it could help as many Minnesotans as possible. Hortman, a Catholic Sunday school teacher, was also guided by an insight often lost on elected officials.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/3ZQuYPV
OFFICER: Via KSTP-TV, VERBATIM: “The Minnesota BCA has now identified the officer who fired his gun at Vance Boelter outside the home of Melissa and Mark Hortman. On Thursday, the BCA said Officer Zachary Baumtrog has been placed on critical incident leave by the Brooklyn Park Police Department. Baumtrog is said to have nine years of law enforcement experience.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/4kX58Cf
PLYMOUTH: Via CCX Media, VERBATIM: “At this week’s Plymouth City Council meeting, local members of the Minnesota Legislature planned to update council members on this year’s legislative session. However, that routine update turned into anything but. ‘My primary focus for being here this evening is to really talk to the council and to express my profound gratitude to our public safety director, Erik Fadden, and to our entire Plymouth Police Department,’ said Rep. Ginny Klevorn, DFL-Plymouth. When word spread that lawmakers were under attack, Plymouth police sprang into action to ensure the safety of the local delegation. Four Democratic governors and two U.S. senators slammed the proposed cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program within the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which they referred to as ‘ugly’ and a ‘big beautiful betrayal of a bill’ during a press call.
U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota led the call. She and U.S. Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware, as well as Govs. Andy Beshear of Kentucky, Maura Healey of Massachusetts, Laura Kelly of Kansas and Matt Meyer of Delaware took turns lambasting the Republican legislation.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/443gZJ9

CRYSTAL: Via CCX Media, VERBATIM: “Crystal is putting new development on hold in one of its main retail and commercial areas. That means any plans to redevelop vacant sites like the former Walgreens building will be temporarily paused. City officials say it’s part of a plan to re-envision what its Town Center might look like 25 years from now.
