NUTRIENTS: Via Minnesota Corn, VERBATIM: “An updated state Nutrient Reduction Strategy (NRS) could help Minnesota meet its 2040 nutrient reduction goals and ensure the vitality of the state’s corn farmers. But the current draft of the updated NRS, as published by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) this summer, needs additional fine-tuning to meet those objectives. That was the gist of comments submitted on September 10 by the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) to MPCA.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/3VoriCp (SPONSORED: Minnesota Corn Growers Association)

CRISIS: Via MoneyWise, VERBATIM: “The combines are rolling across the American Midwest, but instead of excitement, many farmers say this harvest feels more like a crisis. Trade wars, rising costs, labor shortages and high interest rates have converged into what some growers call ‘farmageddon,’ a tidal wave of financial and emotional strain threatening one of this country’s most vital industries. And with markets closing and storage bins filling fast, they say time is running out.” QUOTE: “It just seems like things have stalled all summer long,” Brian Warpup told CNN recently, who grows corn and soybeans on 3,900 acres in northeastern Indiana. “With harvest here, patience may be running thin.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/4nh0znJ
E15: Via Brownfield, VERBATIM: “The Ranking Member of the House Agriculture Committee is looking to avoid a repeat of last year’s failure to pass year-round nationwide E15 legislation. Minnesota Democrat Angie Craig tells Brownfield she’s optimistic lawmakers can find a pathway before the end of 2025.” CRAIG: “But we’ve been here before. At the end of the year last year we thought we were going to be able to finally get this across the finish line, and it got ripped out of the bill at the last moment. So again, Republicans are going to have to step up and fight for this.” LISTEN: https://fluence-media.co/46hUBwL

This is now the northernmost detection of NWS during this outbreak, and the one most threatening to the American cattle and livestock industry. Sabinas Hidalgo is located near the major highway from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, to Laredo, Texas, which is one of the most heavily trafficked commercial thoroughfares in the world.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/3W3hjCG
BASIS: Via farm management analyst Kent Thiesse, VERBATIM: “On any given day, farm operators and others can get grain price quotes from the CME Group, also known as the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), in ‘real-time’ on their computer or I-phone. Almost as quickly, they can get current and future corn and soybean market price quotes from local grain elevators, ethanol plants, and processing plants. The difference between the local grain price and the CBOT price is known as ‘basis’. Understanding how basis works and the seasonal trends associated with basis can be an important factor in making corn and soybean marketing decisions.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/4pFVhUq
FOOD SURVEY: Via NPR, VERBATIM: “The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) under the administration of President Trump announced on Saturday that it will end a longstanding annual food insecurity survey, calling it ‘redundant, costly, politicized, and extraneous.’ The Household Food Security Report provides yearly data on the lack of access to adequate nutrition for low-income Americans, and helps shape policy on how to combat food insecurity and hunger. The USDA's announcement comes after Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act into law this summer, which expands the work requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. This, in effect, will leave an estimated 2.4 million Americans without food aid.” READ: https://fluence-media.co/46fXFcG
EXPORTS: Via Brownfield, VERBATIM: “An American Soybean Association board director is concerned about the current landscape for U.S. ag exports. ANHYDROUS: Via KTTC-TV, VERBATIM: “The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is reminding farmers to stay safe when using anhydrous ammonia fertilizer. The material can cause severe injuries and even lead to death. Anhydrous ammonia is a chemical compound of nitrogen and hydrogen, known as NH3. It’s commonly stored in pressurized containers in liquid form and released into the air as gas. Because it contains nitrogen, anhydrous ammonia is used to fertilize soil, helping crops such as corn and beans grow.” WATCH: https://fluence-media.co/3ICpq6b
